I’ll admit it: I’ve never really liked Emma Roberts. I think she’s one of the more egregious cases of second-generation Hollywood nepotism. I think she’s a crappy actress. And I think she’s pretty bratty. With all that being said, I didn’t hate Emma’s Allure cover interview. She’s very full of herself in a lovely, oblivious sort of way, and she flat-out refuses to discuss her on-again/off-again toxic relationship with Evan Peters, the same guy who briefly accused her of domestic violence. While Evan and Emma officially broke off their engagement earlier this year, they’ve been photographed together recently and I’m sure they’re probably back “on.” Anyway, here are some highlights from Emma’s Allure cover profile:
Representing lingerie brand Aerie for smaller women: “You can put yourself out there and not Photoshop yourself or Facetune yourself. It’s just fine “to say, ‘Oh, I looked bad in that picture, but that was such a fun day. I also wanted to show people: Yes, there is an Emma Roberts, but there is also Emma! Meaning, ‘Not red carpet. My hair down. Basically no makeup.’ I’m a small-B boob. I can’t even fit into Victoria’s Secret bras, they’re all too big! So I’m standing up for the small-busted girls.”
Aging: “I never felt more comfortable with myself since I turned 24. I feel like I’ve crossed the bridge into being a woman.”
She might not want to act anymore: “I think as I get older, there might come a time when I don’t want to be in front of the camera anymore and want to be more behind the scenes: I would love to produce and maybe write. I thought of it a lot during ‘Scream Queens’ when every morning there’s full hair and makeup and heels and mini-dresses. And I thought, you know, I kind of want to show up to work one day and not care what I look like. It would be nice to just slip away for a little bit.”
How she got over her broken engagement to Evan Peters: She replaced that engagement ring with three others on her left hand, gold rings that she bought for herself after “a breakup.” What purchasing them meant to her was something her mother told her: “Always love yourself, and always know what you’re worth.”
Whether she’s back together with Evan Peters: “I don’t want to talk about that.”
Re: the bra stuff. “I can’t even fit into Victoria’s Secret bras, they’re all too big!” If you call yourself a B-cup and you’re swimming in a Victoria’s Secret B-cup, that means you’re not a B-cup, and you’re probably wearing the wrong size all around. She probably thinks she’s a 34-B when she’s really a 32-A or something. Although… you can see what she’s working with in the cover shot, and I think she’s probably in-between A and B. Maybe a small, perky B-cup which would probably fit in a traditional Victoria’s Secret 32-B, if not for Emma’s new endorsement of another brand. But yeah, she’s probably wearing the wrong size.
As for the rest of it… of course she’s just exhausted with having to look so cute on the set, and of course moving into writing, directing and producing is just as easy as announcing you’re bored with being famous (famous for being a nepotism-hire) and deciding that you don’t want to look cute all the time. And I seriously don’t believe “loving herself” is anything Emma will ever forget to do.
